The Men’s NCAA Basketball 2024 Hall of Fame Series will take place this Friday at CFG Bank Arena in Baltimore. It features Virginia (2-0) vs. Villanova (2-2) at 5pm and Virginia Tech (3-0) vs. Penn State (3-0) at 730pm.
This will be the first Division 1 Basketball games at CFG Bank Arena since its $250-million renovation was completed last year.

The Hall of Fame Series, owned and operated by Position Sports, is a collection of multi-game, singular events that showcase several of the top collegiate basketball teams in exciting non-conference matchups played both domestically and abroad. The inaugural Hall of Fame Series was held in 2023 in Las Vegas, Charlotte, San Antonio, Toronto, and Phoenix.
Villanova vs. Virginia Series History
Virginia leads the all-time series, 5-3, in a matchup between two programs that have accounted for three of the last eight national titles. In the last meeting, Villanova, who was ranked No. 1 at the time, prevailed 61-59 on January 29, 2017, at the Wells Fargo Center as Donte DiVincenzo tapped in a putback layup at the buzzer. The first meeting between Virginia and Villanova occurred in the 1981 NCAA East Region Quarterfinals (Cavaliers won 54-50).
Villanova will be playing in Baltimore for the first time since opposing Loyola (Md.) on December 3, 1983. Virginia has not appeared in Baltimore since taking on Loyola (Md.) on December 30, 1998.

Penn State and Virginia Tech will meet for the 12th time in program history. The Hokies own a 7-4 all-time advantage, but the Nittany Lions have won three of the last four matchups. Penn State and Virginia Tech last met in the Charleston Classic semifinals on Nov. 18, 2022, with the Hokies earning a slim 61-59 win.
