Jamaican restaurant Jerk at Nite is now open at 21 N. Eutaw St. Downtown. The former bank building has been vacant for the past six years following the closure of Alewife. Jerk at Nite hosted a soft opening in September and its grand opening in November when it also debuted the second-floor speakeasy bar Nest.

Jerk at Nite was started by Deville Myrie in 2012 on the campus of Howard University. Myrie grew up in New York and is the son of Jamaican immigrants. Myrie started selling food out of his freshman dorm and later launched his first food truck in 2014.

Jerk at Nite opened a brick-and-mortar location in Northeast Washington, D.C. in 2019 and now has two D.C. locations, as well as locations in College Park and Detroit, MI.

Jerk at Nite has accumulated 474,000 followers on Instagram.

Jerk at Nite previously had a location in the Rosemont neighborhood of Baltimore. It also began building out a location at 1415 Washington Blvd. in Pigtown in 2022, but eventually decided to pursue different locations in Baltimore.

The menu by chef Loic Sany features Jamaican favorites such as jerk chicken and salmon, rasta pasta, curry goat, beef patty, oxtail, coco bread, rice and peas, rum cake, and more.

The interior of the new restaurant was redone with Jamaican colors and decor, a large palm tree, and portraits of famous people with ties to Baltimore such as Frederick Douglas, Edgar Allen Poe, Babe Ruth, Michael Phelps, Lamar Jackson, Larry Hogan, Wes Moore, Barbara Mikulski, and Oprah Winfrey.

Jerk at Nite is open Wednesday and Thursday from 12pm to 10pm, Saturday from 5pm to 12am, and Sunday from 12pm to 10pm.
